If you want to identify which aspects you should check and recommend a site to optimize from a technical or content perspective, then please take a look at the following amazing lists:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Annie Cushing&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.seerinteractive.com\/blog\/craziest-internet-marketing-audit-checklist-on-the-interwebz\" target=\"_blank\">Craziest Audit Checklist on the Internet<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Steve Webb&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.seomoz.org\/blog\/how-to-perform-the-worlds-greatest-seo-audit\" target=\"_blank\">How to Perform the World&#8217;s Greatest SEO Audit<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Bill Slawski&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.webimax.com\/blog\/seo\/seo-audit-checklist\" target=\"_blank\">SEO Audit Checklist<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">An <strong>exhaustive SEO audit is the operative base of a successful SEO process<\/strong> since it allows you to not only <strong>identify which aspects of the site need to be optimized from a technical and content perspective<\/strong> to improve its crawlability, indexability and relevancy, but also to \u00a0<strong>understand the &#8220;platform&#8221; of your client Web business, detect linkable assets opportunities and assimilate its unique selling proposition<\/strong> that will definitely help you to develop much more consistent and effective link building strategies that align and make the most out of each available opportunity.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Because of its importance <strong>it&#8217;s fundamental not only to identify and include all what is relevant for the SEO process, but also to communicate all these findings and recommendations effectively in order to generate the desired actions<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Some days ago Geoff Kenyon published a post named &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/geoffkenyon.com\/improving-your-site-audits\/\">Improving your SEO audits<\/a>&#8221; that made me realize how thanks to the way I had changed and polished over time\u00a0the way I organize and present my SEO audit reports I achieve much more effective results now than when I started some years ago.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I would like to share some tips that have worked for me to\u00a0<strong>present SEO audit results and recommendations with \u00a0reports<\/strong> that:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Are\u00a0<strong>easily understandable to the stakeholders<\/strong>: Independently to their background, whether they&#8217;re business or technical oriented.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Drive an accurate implementation<\/strong>: Clearly prioritizing and communicating the required actions, specifying the type of needed support.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Facilitate the follow-up:<\/strong> Providing the required information that will serve as an SEO implementation schedule and guide.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To achieve this I create two documents that will refer to each other and will serve for two different moments in the process:<\/p>\n<h2>1. The SEO Audit Report Template<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A <strong>consistent organization, detailed description<\/strong> &#8211;never assuming anything&#8211; and <strong>visual support<\/strong> are key to create an SEO audit report that is easily read, understood and drives the desired action to the appropriate parties. For this I organize the SEO audit report as follows:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aleydasolis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/seo-audit-recommendations-template.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3639\" alt=\"SEO Audit Recommendations Template\" src=\"https:\/\/www.aleydasolis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/seo-audit-recommendations-template-1.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"930\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.aleydasolis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/seo-audit-recommendations-template-1.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.aleydasolis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/seo-audit-recommendations-template-1-193x300.jpg 193w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>1.1. The document version and date<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As important as the title and site name the <strong style=\"text-align: justify;\">version of the document is fundamental to include along with the date<\/strong> when it was presented since you might need to create many audits or revisions for specific areas of the site at different times.<\/p>\n<h3>1.2. The Introduction<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">An <strong style=\"text-align: justify;\">index that helps the readers to easily navigate<\/strong> through the document.<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3>1.3. The Index<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">An introduction that clearly <strong style=\"text-align: justify;\">communicates the goals that are followed with the SEO audit<\/strong> and recommendations, <strong style=\"text-align: justify;\">how it&#8217;s organized<\/strong> in two sections, one purely technical (that will only require technical support) and other with content related recommendations (that might also need technical support for their implementation but focuses on the site relevancy and requires a content input or validation) and <strong style=\"text-align: justify;\">who should implement the recommendations<\/strong>, if they&#8217;re content related then the editorial, communications or marketing department (depending on the company structure) and if the recommendations are technical then de development team or provider.<strong style=\"text-align: justify;\"><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3>1.4. The Summary<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A table that <strong style=\"text-align: justify;\">summarizes all the analyzed elements<\/strong>, including for each of the recommendations their level of importance as an SEO factor\u00a0(High, Medium or Low), optimization status (High if it&#8217;s optimized and doesn&#8217;t need to be improved, Medium for those moderately optimized with room for improvement and Low if it&#8217;s non-optimized, along with a consistent color code system to help their identification) and desired implementation priority (using a value system that should be explained, such as numbers in ascending order, starting with the highest priority), along with the required type of support, technical or content and the page where each of them can be found.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This summary will be helpful to <strong style=\"text-align: justify;\">quickly transmit which are the most important issues that need to be solved on the site and the required resources to do it<\/strong>. To give a priority for each recommendation you need to take their present situation (how optimized each of them are at the moment) and their importance to achieve the SEO process goals (how important each one of them are as an SEO factor) and start prioritizing those that are highly important and are not optimized.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3648\" alt=\"SEO Audit recommendations Elements\" src=\"https:\/\/www.aleydasolis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/seo-audit-recommendations-template-11.jpg\" width=\"599\" height=\"579\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.aleydasolis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/seo-audit-recommendations-template-11.jpg 599w, https:\/\/www.aleydasolis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/seo-audit-recommendations-template-11-300x289.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 599px) 100vw, 599px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>1.5. The Technical Recommendations Section<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong style=\"text-align: justify;\"> All the purely technical recommendations<\/strong> (such as those that have to do with canonicalization, site crawlability and indexability, structured data implementation, etc.) that don&#8217;t required any content input and that can be directly done by the development team, will be organized together. This will help to <strong style=\"text-align: justify;\">better divide the activities for their implementation<\/strong> and make <strong style=\"text-align: justify;\">the document easier to read for the different type of audiences<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3>1.6. The Recommendations: Concepts, Findings and Actions<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong style=\"text-align: justify;\">Each aspect that has been analyzed will have its own recommendations section<\/strong> that will include the summary table only for itself at the beginning (in case someone goes directly to read it and want to quickly know its status and importance level) and will always <strong style=\"text-align: justify;\">feature its concept<\/strong> -explained in a concise way that transmits why it&#8217;s important in the SEO process, how it will help to achieve its results-, the <strong style=\"text-align: justify;\">findings from the audit<\/strong> organizing each related finding in bullet points along with screenshots showing and explaining them with a <strong style=\"text-align: justify;\">positive approach<\/strong> (focusing on how these can be improved instead of how bad they are, remember that this document will also be read by the development team and you don&#8217;t want them to see this as criticism to their work) and <strong style=\"text-align: justify;\">the recommended actions<\/strong>, each of them in a bullet point with <strong style=\"text-align: justify;\">specific steps to take along with examples<\/strong>, in order to improve the identified aspects and fix the issues that have been found.<\/p>\n<h3>1.7. The Content Related Recommendations Section<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">All of the analyzed aspects that required a content input and have to do with the site relevancy should be included in the &#8220;Content related recommendations&#8221; area. Keep in mind that these are not all the content improvements or development that you will need to do, there are going to be others included specified in content strategies to enhance the site attractiveness, to create linkable assets, to optimize and improve towards its linkability &#8211;that are developed iteratively along the SEO process with a link building perspective&#8211; but those identified at the beginning to have an optimized content base.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The <strong style=\"text-align: justify;\">recommendations included in this area will need content input for their development <\/strong>&#8211;such as the improvement of titles, unique and descriptive text content in each relevant page, etc.&#8211;, whether it is from the editorial, communications or marketing team -additionally to the technical team if required, in case that the changes cannot be implemented through a panel but directly in the code-.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3649\" alt=\"SEO Audit Patterns &amp; Elements\" src=\"https:\/\/www.aleydasolis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/seo-audit-recommendations-template-2.jpg\" width=\"602\" height=\"647\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.aleydasolis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/seo-audit-recommendations-template-2.jpg 602w, https:\/\/www.aleydasolis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/seo-audit-recommendations-template-2-279x300.jpg 279w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 602px) 100vw, 602px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">After having presented the SEO audit and recommendations report you can <strong>share it with Google Docs to allow comments, questions and feedback<\/strong> from all of the involved parties and have it there published as an easy-to-access reference.<\/p>\n<h2>2. The SEO Implementation Schedule Template<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The next step is to implement the recommendations.\u00a0To facilitate this task and the follow-up you can take the previously developed SEO audit summary and add extra fields for all the recommendations about \u00a0<strong>their implementation expected start and end date<\/strong>, <strong>who&#8217;s going to implement them<\/strong>, the <strong>validation start and end dates<\/strong>\u00a0(to allocate time to test the changes in a closed environment) <strong>and their implementation status<\/strong> (if they have been published, are in process of being implemented or still pending) so you end-up with a table like this:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aleydasolis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/seo-audit-implementation-schedule.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3645\" alt=\"SEO Audit Schedule Implementation\" src=\"https:\/\/www.aleydasolis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/seo-audit-implementation-schedule-3.jpg\" width=\"650\" height=\"223\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.aleydasolis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/seo-audit-implementation-schedule-3.jpg 650w, https:\/\/www.aleydasolis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/seo-audit-implementation-schedule-3-300x102.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">You can <strong>create this table with Google Spreadsheets and share it with the SEO process stakeholders so they can fill it with the implementation related information<\/strong> and then you can also do the same with the validation and status one as the process advance.<\/p>\n<h3>2.1. The Technical and Content Recommendations Organization<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Split the recommendations in technical and content related aspects to keep consistency with the SEO report and each stakeholder can easily identify the relevant activities to follow.<\/p>\n<h3>2.2. Reference to the SEO Audit Report Page<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Add a<strong> link from the page numbers to the Google Docs where you have shared the SEO audit report<\/strong> so it&#8217;s easier to refer to.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3660\" alt=\"SEO Audit Report Schedule\" src=\"https:\/\/www.aleydasolis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/seo-audit-implementation-schedule-1.jpg\" width=\"604\" height=\"331\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.aleydasolis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/seo-audit-implementation-schedule-1.jpg 604w, https:\/\/www.aleydasolis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/seo-audit-implementation-schedule-1-300x164.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 604px) 100vw, 604px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>2.3. Implementation Timing<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">For all the recommendations\u00a0<strong>include a start and end date<\/strong>, that should be planned and filled by the stakeholder in charge of developing them (from the technical, content or marketing team). Like this you can effectively follow-up each one of the recommended aspects.<\/p>\n<h3>2.4. Validation Timing<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">When you have the implementation dates you will be able to coordinate, allocating <strong>time to validate each development<\/strong> in a closed environment before it&#8217;s launched.<\/p>\n<h3>2.5. Implementation Status<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Finally, include a <strong>status field showing if each recommendation has been published, is in process or still pending<\/strong>, using also a color system allowing to easily follow the advancement.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3661\" alt=\"The SEO Implementation justify;\">As I commented before thanks to the way these documents have evolved I have achieved a higher effectiveness in my work although <strong>they are and always will be in an evolving process<\/strong> as a consequence of how our sector changes, the type of aspects and elements we evaluate and improve to achieve the desired organic visibility and conversions for our clients, the people involved in the process, how we communicate with clients, the tools we use for our work, and of course, our own experience in our work.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">If you&#8217;ve
